Building officials are calling for upgrades for window in older buildings. Engineers and building officials are saying that weak glass should not be used to replace storm shattered windows. At the Oceania high rises in Sunny Isles Beach construction is underway to replace windows and doors that were shattered during Hurricane Wilma. Codes in Miami-Dade and Broward counties changed after Hurricane Andrew. Now stronger, impact resistant glass is required to be up to code.
